Pleasant View Baptist Church
Sandusky, Texas

The Pleasant View Baptist Church, also known as Pull-Off Baptist Church, was located about five miles southwest of the community of Sandusky.  The first church building was a log cabin belonging to a Pleasant View resident.  The log cabin burned and a one-room building was built on two acres of land donated by Doc Green.  The building was used both as a church and as a school.

Some early families involved int he organization of the church were: Mr. & Mrs. Jim Kinsey, John & Sarah Green, Oscar Bussel, Maud Bussel, Lennie Kinsey, Minnie Perkins, W. M. Plexico, Mille Foster, Mr. & Mrs. W. G. Goldston, Doc & Annie Green, Chrissy Goldston, Mr. & Mrs. Newberry Henry and Mr. & Mrs. Bob Jewel.

While waiting for the new church building to be constructed, the school burned.  Both the school and the church used a building owned by Bob Jewel.  When the new church building was complete, school classes were held in the church building until the school term was completed.  Then the school transferred to the Sandusky community.

As the community grew smaller and disagreement existed within the church, the congregation voted to disband in the late 1930's.

Some ministers of the Pleasant View Baptist Church were: Rev. Southers, Rev. Schrienshire, Rev. Chacker and Rev. H. M. Cagle.
