Note: The article below were published in the The Denison
Daily Herald, the day after the event. It corrects the location
form the 1400 block of W. Chestnus Street to the 1400 block between
Owings and Crawford streets. It states more emphatically that the
body of water was the old Kilgore brick yard pond; and gives the number
of 35 baptized compared to the original estimate of 50-60. It is possible that the buildings in the background are the old brick factory. The second clipping includes 2 anecdotes - a boy fell into the pond and the wailing mother of one of the men being baptized. It also says that Rev. Swancey and the candidates for baptism posed for two photographs - one on the bank and a second one after they had entered the water. The second pose describes the photograph above. The reference to "kodak fiends" suggests other pictures were taken in addition to the two.
