SHERMAN - Funeral services for Linda Marie Brown of Sherman will be held at 11 a.m. on Dec. 29, 2012 at First Baptist Church in Sherman at the direction of Waldo Funeral Home. Dr. Kris Segrest, pastor of First Baptist Church Wylie will officiate with assistance from Dr. Mike Lawson of First Baptist Church of Sherman. Burial will follow at Friendship Cemetery in Sherman.

Linda passed away at Traditions Senior Living and Memory Care on Thursday, Dec. 27, 2012.

Linda was born on Jan. 6, 1947 in Dallas, the daughter of Vernon and Betty Pearce. She was raised in Dallas and graduated from Dallas Bryan Adams High School in 1964. Linda was employed by the Hartford Insurance Group and worked several years alongside her husband at Benton-Luttrell-Brown Insurance Agency in Sherman.

On Dec. 5, 1970, Linda married Harold Chandler Brown at the Ferguson Road Baptist Church in Dallas. They made their home in Garland before moving to and residing in Sherman since 1975.

Linda, affectionately called Lucy by her children and grandchildren, was a devoted mother with the special spiritual gift of mercy and tirelessly worked to care for others. She had a special place in her heart for those who were less fortunate than her. Linda spent several years as the primary caregiver for her mother and sister.

She was a member of First Baptist Church in Sherman.

Linda was preceded in death by her parents and sister, Connie Letz. She is survived by her husband, Harold; a son, Gregory Scott Brown and his wife Kristie of Plano, and a son Bradley Paul Brown and his wife Shannon of Allen; grandchildren, Brandt and Carson Brown of Plano and Landon, Reagan and Payton Brown of Allen.

Pallbearers will be Gary Lucas, Larry Watkins, Dr. Larry Campbell, J.D. Fuller, Alan McDougal and Richard Barber.

The family would like to extend a special thanks to Linda's caregivers and outstanding staff at Traditions, Becky Davis of Hospice Plus, as well as the dedicated service and friendship of Nora Bynum, Kay Bynum and Isabelle Rivera.

Visitation will be from 6 -8 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 28 at Waldo Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, the family would request that donations be made in Linda's honor to the First Baptist Church of Sherman Ministry of Encouragement or Four Rivers Outreach Ministry in Sherman.
