Juakana Kaye Rowen
1933 - 2010

Sherman- Funeral services for Juakana 'Kaye' Rowen will be held Saturday afternoon, July 3, 2010 at Waldo Funeral Home. Burial followed at Friendship Cemetery. Mrs. Rowen, 76, passed away Tuesday, June 29, 2010 at the Homestead of Sherman.
Kaye was born July 13, 1933 in Cross Plains, Texas, daughter of Charles and Ora (McGlothlin) Graves. She graduated from Cross Plains schools and attended Grayson County College. Mrs. Rowen worked for the City of Sherman for many years and did volunteer work for adult literacy, Ombudsman, and the Area Agency on Aging. She was a member of the Assembly of God. Her heart was forever devoted to her children, grandchildren, and friends. Kaye will be remembered for her unmatched strength and a little bit of orneriness.
Mrs. Rowen is survived by two sons, Stephen Lee Rowen of Sweetwater, Texas; and James J. Rowen and wife, Patti, of Sherman; one daughter, Sheila Rowen Benton and husband, Rodger, of Denton; brother, Bill Graves and wife, Creta, of Scottsbluff, Nebraska; 7 grandchildren, Stephanie Leininger, Matthew Rowen, Zachary Rowen, Bethany Rowen, Rachel Benton, Samuel Benton, and Rebekah Benton; 2 great grandchildren, Kyra and Kennedy Leininger; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Lucille Ragland; and brothers, Lynn Graves and 'Sonny Boy' Graves. 




James J. Rowen of Sherman passed away on March 6, 2021.  Beloved family man and friend, Jim was kind and compassionate to all he met.  He was a man of great faith, and he loved the outdoors.
Jim was born on March 29, 1958 in Deols, France, son of Larry and Juakana Rowen.  He graduated from Sherman High School and attended Grayson County College before beginning his longtime career at Fisher Controls.  Married for nearly 39 years, Jim and Patti and 3 children: Matthew (Hannah), Zachary and Bethany.  Jim enjoyed camping, fishing, gardening, working on old cars, and was an avid reader and music lover.  His love of the outdoors led to his active involvement with the Boy Scouts of America, Troop 15, and he shared those experiences with his 2 sons.  Jim also shared the same love with his daughter, Bethany, taking her hiking and fishing often.  Jim and Patti spent many weekends, holidays and vacations camping with family and friends.
Jim is survived by wife, Patti; children, Matthew (Hannah), Zachary and Bethany; father of Sherman; siblings, Stephen and Sheila; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his mother.
Interment was held at Friendship Cemetery for family and close friends Thursday noon, March 18, 2021, followed by a Celebration of Life at Waldo Family Center, Sherman, Texas.  Masks were required. - - - Waldo Funeral Home
