Sharla L. McCray
20 June 1949 - 28 August 1999


DENISON - Graveside services for Sharla Lanell McCray, 50-year-old Denison resident, were held at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, August 31, 1999 at Friendship Cemetery west of Sherman. Rev. Jeff Johnson of North Park Baptist Church officiated and arrangements were under the direction of Waldo Funeral Home.

Mrs. McCray died Saturday, August 28, 1999 at Texoma Medical Center in Denison.
Sharla was born June 20, 1949 in Durant, Oklahoma, to Charles Longwell and Christine Fielden Longwell. She graduated from Sherman High School in 1967 and attended Grayson County College. She married Donnald Dean McCray on March 21, 1969 at the First Nazarene Church in Sherman. She worked for R Systems and Redpath Apparel in Denison for many years.
In her forties, she returned to Grayson County College to continue her studies working toward a degree in accounting. She had a lifelong love for animals and could always be counted on to care for any abandoned dog or cat needing a home. She also loved John Wayne movies, Elvis Presley memorabilia, the Dallas Cowboys, and anything related to angels, windmills, and birdhouses. She was a loving daughter, mother and sister. 
Survivors include her daughter, Michelle McCray of Denison; parents, Charles and Christine Longwell of Sherman; sister, and brother-in-law, Shana and John Powell of Gainesville; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
Memorials may be made to the American Diabetes Association, 12850 Spurling Road, Dallas, Texas 75230.
