CONFEDERATE WAR VETERAN SUCCUMBS
Sherman, Texas - D.R. (Uncle Dave)  Lockett, 93,  a veteran of the Civil War, died Tuesday at the home of his foster daughter, Mrs. Joseph Inman, Sherman.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday afternoon at the Friendship Church, 2 miles west of Sherman.  Burial will be in the Friendship Cemetery.
Mr. Lockett was born at Dadeville, Kentucky.  He had made his home with Mrs. Inman for 14 years.  He has another foster daughter, Mrs. Fred Noles of California.
When he was 18, Mr. Lockett volunteered for service in the Confederate army and became a member of Company A, First Alabama, Regiment.  Mr. Lockett had 3 older brothers in company A, one a lieutenant, another who died while a prisoner of war and the third who returned home with him after the war.
