Marybeth Johnson 85, of Sherman Texas, passed away on Wednesday, November 26th after a prolonged illness at her home. Graveside Services were on Sunday, November 30th at the Friendship Cemetery on Friendship Road in Sherman Texas with Robin McGee officiating. 
Marybeth was born October 17, 1929 in Bethany, Missouri, daughter of Aubrey R. and Goldie G. Cushman. Marybeth grew up in Bethany, Missouri, were she graduated from high school in 1947. She met the love of her life, Bob Johnson, while they both attended Bethany High School. After graduation, she attended Iowa State College in Ames, Iowa. On June 4, 1950
she and Bob were married and they have resided in Sherman Texas since 1966. During that time, Marybeth was very active in the community and her church. She served as president of the Pink Lady volunteer organization at Wilson N. Jones Hospital as well as the PEO organization. She also served on the Boards of the Sherman Musical Arts and the Museum. She was an active member of First Baptist Church in Sherman, where she loved to serve and sing in the Sanctuary choir until her health kept her from attending. She joined the faculty of Grayson Junior College in 1979, where she sponsored the Viking Cheerleaders and managed the Student Recreation Center. She also organized the Grayson County College Student Job Placement program and retired after 11 years of service.

Mary was preceded in death by her parents and brother, Howard R. Cushman.
She is survived by her beloved husband, Robert H. (Bob) Johnson; her children, Robert Blair and wife Nancy of Santa Fe, New Mexico; John Barry and wife Gail of Sherman,Texas;, James Bradley and wife Lisa of Keller, Texas;, William Howard of McAlester, Oklahoma; and Beth Payne and husband Mark of Keller,Texas. Six grandchildren, Aubrey Lash and husband Austin; Whitney Carriveau and husband Jake; Michelle Perkinson and husband Matthew; Megan Hickerson and husband Shaun; grandsons Allan and Preston Johnson; and one great grandchild, Rohen Lash.

Memorial may be made to Grayson County Home Health or First Baptist Church of Sherman.


Graveside services for Bob Johnson, 91, of Sherman, Texas were held Monday afternoon, December 28, 2020 at Friendship Cemetery on Friendship Road in Sherman, with Rev. Matthew Perkinson officiating. Pallbearers were Jake Carriveau, Austin Lash, Mark Payne, Allan Johnson, Preston Johnson, Barry Johnson and Brad Johnson. Arrangements were under the direction of Waldo Funeral Home, Sherman, Texas.  Mr. Johnson passed away after a short illness on December 25, 2020 at Texoma Medical Center in Denison, Texas.
Bob was born June 2, 1929 in Bethany, Missouri, the eldest child of Dean D. and M. Illeene Wethered Johnson.  Bob graduated from Bethany High School in 1947 and attended William Jewell College 1947-1949 and graduated University of Missouri in 1950.  He married his high school sweetheart, Mary Elizabeth (Marybeth) Cushman June 4, 1950 in Bethany, Missouri.  Bob taught high school mathematics and sciene in Blue Springs, Missouri and North Kansas City, Missouri from 1950-1952.  He later worked as a chemist for International Milling Co. in Ponca City, Oklahoma and Minneapolis, Minnesota from 1952-1957 and was then employed by Texas Instruments where he worked as a Quality Control Engineer, Process Engineer and Quality Control Manager from 1957-1985 in Texas.
Bob is preceded by his parents; wife; and brother, William F. Johnson.
He is survived by his sister, Janet S. Nickerson of Paris, Texas; son, Robert B. Johnson and wife, Nancy, of Fayetteville, Arkansas; son, John Barry Johnson and wife, Gail, of Sherman, Texas; son, James Bradley Johnson and wife, Lisa, of Mt. Pleasant, Texas; son, William H. Johnson, of McAlester, Oklahoma; and daughter, Beth Payne and husband, Mark, of Lake Kiowa, Texas; 6 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren.
Bob had many hobbies that he enjoyed but his passion was operating his Amateur Radio (HAM) Station.  He operated HAM radio from 1954-2020 under call signs KSLIW and WSTO.
Bob was a 12th generation direct descendant of Captain John Johnson who came from England with Governor Winthrop on the Arbella in 1630 to establish the Massachusetts Bay Colony.
