J.S. Elkins Dies

Sherman, Texas, Feb 24- The funeral of J.S. Elkins, who died at his home, five miles northwest of Sherman was held at Pecan Grove Church Tuesday afternoon, the Rev. Mr. Vale of Southmayde officiating, assisted by the Rev. O. T. Cooper of Paris and the Rev. R.G. Mood of McKinney, both of whom have been located in Sherman and are close friends of the family. Interment was in Friendship Cemetery. Mr. Elkins was one of the old pioneers of the county, having located on the farm now occupied by the family on Jan 6, 1846. At the time of his death he was the only surviving member of teh Pecan Grove Church who helped to erect the present building.
