Anna "Ann" Margaret Mason, known as "Gran" to her family, passed away in the early morning on October 30, 2021 at the age of 89.
Ann was born on January 28, 1932 in Randolph, Texas in a farmhouse, daughter of Augustus Quinton and Alberta Biggerstaff.  She committed her life to Christ at an early age.
Ann graduated from Sherman High School in 1949 and met her husband, Robert "Bob" T. Mason her freshman year at Austin College.  Ann graduated from Austin College in 1952, earning a Bachelor's in Education with an emphasis in biology.  She married the love of her life on August 30, 1952.  After Bob served in the Air Force, they returned to Sherman where he finished his Master's and started a coaching career that included 38 years at Austin College, culminating as Athletic Director.  During this time, they had their children, Rick (1957) and Robin (1960).  Ann spent her entire teaching career in Sherman ISD.  She began teaching at Dillingham Junior High in 1964 and finished her career at Piner Middle School in 1996, for a total of 32 years in education.  While she taught, Ann earned her Master's in education from Southeastern Oklahoma State University.  Bob affectionately called Ann his "angel", as she was a great support to him throughout his coaching career, preparing meals for teams and hosting many gatherings at their home.  She cared deeply about people and always made it a point to put others first.  She was an encourager who had a gift with words.  Throughout her retirement years, she enjoyed spending time with her husband, children and grandchildren.  An extremely bright and intelligent woman, she loved working on crossword puzzles and staying up to date on current issues.  She also met with her beloved coffee group of fellow educators during her teaching career and throughout retirement.
Ann was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; sister, Barbara Worsham; and brother, Fred Biggerstaff.
Ann is survived by her son, Rick Mason and wife, Janet; daughter, Robin Holder and husband, Greg; 6 grandchildren: Justin Mason and wife, Hannah; Ryan Mason; Brandon Mason; Erin Vanderberry and husband, Chris; Alexandra Jordan and husband, Michael; and Victoria Nichols and husband, Jeremy; and 2 great-grandchildren, Kennedy and Walker Jordan.
In lieu of flowers, family members respectfully request donations to an organization Ann loved and supported - Living Water International (water cc/donatehonor) which provides clean drinking water in Jesus' name.

Memorial service was held Wednesday morning, November 2, 2021 in the chapel at First Baptist Church in Sherman.
