Gladys Lorene Teeters Groce passed from this life on Friday, April 23, 2021 at the age of 98, in the presence of her loving family. Graveside services were held Monday morning, April 25, 2021 at Friendship Cemetery in Sherman, Texas.  Ken Mullins from Western Heights Church of Christ officiated, with arrangements under the direction and care of Waldo Funeral Home.
Gladys was born August 26, 1922 in Commerce, Texas, daughter of Logan and Beulah Bateman Teeters.   Gladys married Emmett F.Groce in Durant on October 8, 1940.  She worked for the Grayson Hotel for many years, Texas Instruments, and was a sitter at local hospitals throughout Grayson County.  Gladys was our hero. She was a wonderful mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother as well as a tremendous cook.  She was a true example of pure kindness and generosity.
Gladys was preceded in death by her parents; her husband of 54 years; her beloved daughter, Betty Marie Groce; her sister, Grace Nicholson of Pennsylvanis; and brothers, Jimmy Lee and Joe David Teeters of Whitesboro; and many uncles, aunts, cousins and in-laws.
She is survived by her two grandsons, Timothy Hansard and wife, Martha, of Sherman; and Tony Hansard and Kim McKnight of Lewisville; her great-grandchildren, Taylor Hansard; and Sara Hansard Buechler; and Seth Buechler of Sherman; her sister-in-law, Wanda Groce of Sherman; and a host of nieces and nephews.
Honorary pallbearers were Lane Carlisle, Pascal Cayet, Garrett Cayet, Michael Loyd, and great-grandsons, Taylor Hansard and Seth Buechler.
