Ruth Ethel Smith was welcomed into the arms of Jesus on October 26, 2021.  Ruth was one of 14 siblings and was born July 19, 1936 in Denison, Texas, daughter of Ethel Dawson and Richard Steele.  Ruth lived most of her life in Denison. She was married to Bob Smith for 47 years and together they building a life on Shepherd Street "Under the Hill" as they called it.  Their home and supper table was always open to family and anyone else in need.  Ruth was a loving mother to
Jesse, Shirley, Robby, Thomas and Tommy Gene.
She was a beautiful Grandmother, Ma Ruth and Granny to Tammie, John, Tony, Misty, Vicky Kay, Brandon, Michael, Kenneth and Travis Gene as well as 6 great-grandchildren and 3 great-great-grandchildren.
Ruth is survived by 6 siblings: Patti, Carol Ann, Marie, Alfred, David, Arnold Lee and James Ray as well as many other family members and friends and special friend, Randy.  Ruth was a blessing to many people throughout her lifetime.  She loved to cook, draw, paint, work in her flower garden, watch a good ol' Western, and listen to music.
She worked as an intake Specialist for Texoma Excavators along with her husband for many years, and was her disabled son, Jesse's  caregiver for over 30 years.  In her time of need the last few years, she was cared for by her granddaughter and her amazing daughter, Shirley.  Ruth was a beautiful soul and to know her was a blessing for she truly was such a strong, stubborn but caring woman who exemplified true grit and grace.  She will be truly missed.  Nobody can make fried 'taters like Ma Ruth, but we know she is rejoicing now with other family members gone on before her. What a celebration
she is having!  We all look forward to seeing her again in that land where we'll never grow old - Heaven is sounding sweeter every day.
