DENISON - Curtis Ray Madden, Sr., 70 year-old lifelong Denison resident, died Monday June 11, 2018 at Wilson N. Jones Medical Center in Sherman.
Services will be held Saturday June 16 at 10:00 AM at Parkside Baptist Church, 301 N. Lillis Ln in Denison, TX. The Rev. Elder James Hunt of Coffey Memorial C.O.G.I.C. will officiate with Rev Michael Braxton of Bethel Community Baptist Church delivering the eulogy. Burial will be at Fairview Cemetery in Denison, TX.
Mr. Madden was born on May 29, 1948 in Denison, TX to Bennie and Carolyn Madden. He attended Terrell High School in Denison. His passion for helping people led him to the Funeral Service industry. He studied Mortuary Sciences at Commonwealth in Houston, TX and the Dallas Institute of Mortuary Science in Dallas, TX. His 55 plus years of service in the funeral industry in Grayson County included: McDonald Funeral Home, Smith-Memorial Chapel in Denison and Boyd-Smith-White Mortuary in Sherman.
Mr. Madden was an active Stewart and Trustee of Quinn Chapel A.M.E. Church of Denison. He loved his church and was responsible for many projects to improve the church building within and without.
He is survived by his sons Curtis Ray Madden II of San Juan Capistrano and Cory Gene Madden (Jennifer Madden) of Denison. His sister, Barbara Ann Madden Smith and Brother-in-Law Harry Smith of Sherman. His four Grandchildren – Chaise Amber Madden (Tustin, Ca), Curtis Ray Madden III (Seattle, WA), Aliegha Renee Pool and Makayla Paige Madden, both of Denison. His nieces – Amy Mashon Smith-Lewis – Lewisville, Carla Michelle Smith – Houston, Ann Mesha Smith-Luper – Sherman, Marcy Onita Smith-Carlette - Frosco. Great nieces & nephews – Brandon Lewis, Bliss Lewis, Blake Lewis, Lexus Luper Wilson. Great-Great nieces & nephews – Britton Jefferson, Messiah Wilson, Brandon Lewis, Jackson Lewis.
He was proceeded in death by his father Bennie Gene Madden, mother Carolyn Mitchell Madden, brother The Rev. Harold Gene Madden, sister, Linda Carolyn Madden.
Mr. Madden will be available for public viewing on Friday from 10:00 AM until 6:00 PM with the family present to receive guest from 6-7pm at the funeral home.
The Madden family is under the Personal Care of Mr. Madden's sons, Curtis Madden, II., and Cory Madden with professional assistance provided by The Cravens Funeral Home in Sherman.
