DENISON 60-50-35 YEARS AGO
By Dulce Murray

September 24, 1886
Thursday morning James Ward received a telegram from Poola, Kansas, announcing the death of Charley Ledrick, of that place, Wednesday at 2 p.m., asking him to make arrangements for the funeral and to meet the body at the station.
The remains arrived on the 1:40 p.m. train from the north, accompanied by his mother, Mrs. M.L. Ledrick.  The hearse, pall bearers and a large number of friends were at the depot to meet them and offer condolence to the stricken mother.  The procession was formed and proceeded to the Presbyterian church where services were held by the pastor, Rev. Whalen, assisted by Rev. Little.  Interment was in Fairview cemetery.
Charley Ledrick spent his youth in Denison and was educated in our public schools.  He was a young man of fine address talented and well liked by all who knew him.
