DENISON - James Franklin Compton, age 79, went home to be with the Lord Friday, July 9, 2010 at Texoma Medical Center.
Mr. Compton was born September 3, 1930 in Karma, Okla., the son of Frank and Alta (Jackson) Compton. James married the love of his life, Erma Howell August 5, 1950 in Texarkana, Ark. James worked for 31 years at Johns-Mansville. He was a man of faith and honor and a member of Trinity Lighthouse Church. James was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and brother. He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.
Mr. Compton is survived by his loving family: wife of 59 years, Erma Compton of Denison; daughters, Marsha Nelson and husband, David of Callisburg and Becky Hesse and husband, Loyd of Cincinnati, Ohio; grandchildren, Bryant Nelson, Tyler Nelson, Riley Nelson, Megan Hesse and Ryan Hesse; great-granddaughter, Emily Hesse; brother, Melvin Compton and wife, Charlene of Denison; numerous nieces and nephews. James was preceded in death by his parents and sisters, Regina Compton Fuller and Geraldine Compton Jones.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Monday July, 12, 2010 at Fisher Funeral Chapel with Rev. Raymond England and Rev. Houston Garner officiating. Interment will follow at Fairview Cemetery. Family visitation will be held from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday, July 11, 2010 at Fisher Funeral Home.
Pallbearers will be Steve Crain, Nade Atkins, Neill Hart, Lyle Brunson, Troy Davis and Oliver Thompson. Honorary pallbearer will be Bill Crumby.
Arrangements are under the direction of Fisher Funeral Home, located at 604 West Main in Denison.
