Jess Dollarhide, 43 years old, a native Denisonian, died at his home, 630 West Woodard street, Friday morning at 10:30 o'clock after a brief illness. He first became ill Tuesday evening.
Mr. Dollarhide was born in Denison, the son of Mr. and Mrs. T. W. Dollarhide, Jan. 4, 1886, and attend the public schools here, graduating from the High School in 1902.
He entered the railway mail service and was among the postal clerks to pass examination for foreign service, going to France where he served for sixteen months assisting in handling the large volume of mail sent to the boys "over there."
It was in this service for his country that Mr. Dollarhide is believed to have contracted the illness from which he never fully recovered. Soon after his return, he and a brother, Tom  Dollarhide, who also saw active service in the World war, took over their father's interest in the Dollarhide and Harris hardware store here.
After a year or more, the pair disposed of this interest and went to Mexia where they opened a hardware store for themselves. Within a short time, Tom Dollarhide sold his share and went to Lansing, Mich. Jess Dollarhide retained his share of the store until some nine months ago when he sold out to enter the oil business.
