Martha Dunn Bruton
6 January 1923 - 2020

The Matriarch of the Bruton family; Martha Eloise Dunn Bruton was born in Denison, Tx 6 January 1923 to Hugh Burton Dunn and Archie Belle Crittenden.  She lost her mother at the age of 8 and was raised by her grandparents and her aunt Iona Senora Crittenden Wade.  She married at the age of 16 to the love of her life Sidney David Bruton, son of Oscar and Pertina Parker Bruton. They had 5 daughters and celebrated 67 years of marriage. Their early married life was spent living in Denison while David served in The National Guard.  In 1961 David went active duty in the Army and they spent the next several years traveling to military assignments around the world.  Upon retirement in 1975 they returned to the same home on Loy Lake Rd in Denison that they had built in 1950 and left in 1961.  Martha worked for a short while at the family owned Citizens Travel Agency and Small World Travel but got the most joy from caring for her husband, her children, grandchildren and extended family and always had a house full.
She was preceded in death by her husband, her son in law Donald Smallwood, two grandchildren Michael Miller and Christi Bogan Ludeman.  At 97 years old, she was the last of her generation in our family.  She suffered through the loss of many family members that she dearly loved as well as the loss of many close friends.
Surviving are her daughters; Mary Smallwood, Beverly Harmon and husband Charlie,  Davine Miller and husband Mike, Tina DiToma and husband John and Lisa Youree and husband Lanny.  Also surviving her are her dearly loved grandchildren; Traci Sentmanant, Jennifer Bercher, David Giles, Jaime Miller, Meredith Kling, Angela Matysiak, Anthony DiToma, Micah Killough, Vanae Hudson, Melissa Pfahl, and Logan Youree.  Those grandchildren have blessed her with 37 great grandchildren and 8 great great grandchildren.
Sincere love and appreciation is extended to Cyndie Weiss for her years of care and to Angelia Blake and Lindy Dillingham who have been by her side loving and caring for her for the last 3 years.
A funeral Mass will be held Thursday, 8 October at St Patrick's in Denison.  Blessing and burial will follow at Fairview Cemetery at 11:15.  Arrangements provided by Fisher Funeral Home.
