DENISON - Dr. Donald H. Brandt, 72, former Denison physician, died Sept. 28, 1993, at his home in McKinney. A retired internist, Brandt practiced in Denison from 1951 until his retirement in 1979.
Funeral will be at 10 a.m. Friday at graveside in Fairview Cemetery. Rabbi Lawrence Jackofsky will officiate. Johnson-Moore Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Brandt was born Oct. 4, 1920, at St. Louis, Mo., a son of Frank R. and Ray Stone Brandt. He was valedictorian of his graduating class at Woodrow Wilson High School in Dallas and graduated from Southern Methodist University and in 1944 from the University of Texas Medical School in Galveston.
He married Helen Fishman in Austin on March 12, 1948. She died in 1987. He married Bertha Kurzban in McKinney on May 9, 1993.
He was a member of Temple Beth Emeth. He has served as a captain in the U.S. Medical Corps and was affiliated with the Grayson County Medical Association, Texoma medical groups and American Medical Association.
Survivors include his wife of McKinney; four sons, Donald H. Brandt Jr. of Richardson, William R. Brandt of Sherman, Frank Robert Brandt of Las Vegas, Nev., and Charles A. Brandt of Birmingham, Ala; one daughter, Cyril E. Brandt of Allen; one brother, Sanford Brandt of Dallas; one sister, Gerre Gilford of Dallas; six grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
Family suggests memorials to Helen W. Brandt Memorial Shelter for the Homeless, 331 West Morton in Denison. The family asks no flowers, in accordance with Jewish traditions.
