Denison - Mrs. J.R. Westbrook, 69, died Saturday at 9 a.m. at her home on route 2 in the Oak Grove community after
several months of illness.
The daughter of Mr. and Mrs. James Ragsdale, Mrs. Westbrook was born August 31, 1873 in Illinois.  When a child the family moved to Whitewright where she was reared.  She was assistant postmaster there before she was married to J.R. Westbrook December 25, 1901, who was a teacher in the Grayson college at Whitewright.  Mrs. Westbrook had lived in Denison for 39 years.
Survivors include her husband; 5 sons, LeRoy Westbrook of Denison; John Westbrook of Perrin field; Frank Westbrook of Sherman; Ted Westbrook in California; and Bill Westbrook of Jonesboro, Arkansas; a daughter, Mrs. John Spencer of Denison; 2 brothers, Herk Ragsdale of New Gulf and Frank Ragsdale of California; and 2 sisters, Mrs. Elsie Barrett of Pampa and Mrs. Ester Flowers of Sherman.
Funeral services were conducted by Rev. Jackson C. Oglesby Monday evening at the Short-Murray chapel.  Burial was in Fairview.
