Denison - Graveside services for Dr. Reed W. Jones, Jr., 71-year-old Denison ophthalmologist, who died Sunday at his home, were held Tuesday morning in Fairview Cemetery.  Rev. Paul Cardwell and Rev. Mary Sue Reames conducted the services.  Bratcher Funeral Home had charge of arrangements.
Dr. Jones was born in Denison, son of Mr. and Mrs. Reed W. Jones, Sr. and married Margaret Adams on December 27, 1941 in St. Louis, Missouri.
A 1931 graduate of Denison High School, he attended Austin College and graduated at Southeastern Oklahoma State University at Durant.  In 1944 he graduated from Washington University School of Medicine at St. Louis.
He interned at Baylor University Hospital in Dallas and served 2 years with the U.S. Army Medical Corps.  After serving a surgical residency at All Saints Hospital in Ft. Worth, he opened a general practice in Denison.  In 1954 he served a residency at Memphis Ear, Eye, Nose and Throat Hospital and opened his practice in ophthalmology in Denison in 1956. 
He retired in 1980.

He was a member of the Texas Medical Association, American Medical Association and was on the staff of Texoma Medical Center until his retirement.
He was a member of Waples United Methodist Church and served on its board of stewards in 1967-1968.
Surviving are his wife of Denison; son, Reed W. Jones, III of Denison; daughters, Mrs. Cheri DeBruicker of Bloomington, Indiana and Mrs. Rita Miller of Denison; sister, Mrs. Betty Jones Cherry of Denison; and 6 grandchildren.
Pallbearers were Dr. Tom Moorman, Fred Caldwell, Al Oubre, Robert Clement, Mack Cherry, Ben Cherry, Jay Cherry and Thomas Ray Pohl.
Memorial donations may be made to the Methodist Retirement Home or the American Heart Association.

Reed Walton Jones, III, of Denison, TX, passed away at his residence on Monday, November 25, 2019. Reed was born in Memphis, TN on February 26, 1954 to Dr. Reed W. Jones & Margaret Adams Jones. He was a life-long resident of Grayson County. He attained a BA degree from Texas Tech. He was a mud engineer in the petroleum business. He was of the Methodist faith and a member of Waples Methodist Church.
Left to cherish his memories is his mother; Margaret Jones of Denison, TX and his two sisters; Cheri DeBrucker and husband Tim of Bloomington, IND and Reeda of Denison, TX.
He was preceded in death by his father; Dr. Reed Jones and a sister; Duran Alvarez.
A memorial service will be held on Thursday, December 5, 2019, 11:00 A.M. at Waples Methodist Church, Denison, TX. Officiating will be Cheryl Murphy. A visitation will be held one hour prior to the service, 10 – 11 A.M.
