THOMAS M. SCOTT, 80, DIES IN DENISON

Denison, Texas, Dec. 17 - Thomas M. Scott died here Saturday afternoon. Services will be held Sunday afternoon from the Short-Murray Chapel. Burial will be at Fairview Cemetery here.
Born in Oceola, Mo., he came to Texas in 1872 with his parents, locating near Greenville. His father, J. J. Scott, was a teacher and surveyor, the son assisting in laying out town lots at Leonard.
After the elder Scott's death, the son took up surveying, laying out town lots, cemeteries and fence lines. He was married to Miss Minnie Hailey at Bailey, later coming to Denison and entering the furniture business with Andy Burch and Frank Jennings.
Several years he had owned and operated a furniture store near the cotton mill here. His son followed as a surveyor, is now county engineer of Grayson County.
Survivors are his wife; a son, Herbert Scott, Denison; two sisters, Mrs. Tom Grider, Leonard; and Mrs. Cora Withrow, Sulphur Springs; and a brother, W. B. Scott, Memphis.
