Funeral services for Schyler C. Knaur, 88, were held at the family  home, 1128 W.Sears, Wednesday morning with Rev. Ed Bayless officiating. Interment was in Fairview cemetery with Bratcher-Moore in charge.
Mr. Knaur died Monday after a long illness.
Mr. Knaur, pioneer business mand of Denison, was born in Indiana and came to Denison when ten years of age. He was educated in Denison schools and was married in Houston to Bertha Boone. Knaur was one of the first operators of a cotton gin in Denison, later being associated with his brother, the late J. S. Knaur, in the Knaur Grain Mill. He established the Diamond Ice Company and served as its president until his retirement. He was an early. . . member of the Denison Rod and Gun Club and an ardent golfer until ill health overtook him.
He is survived by his wife, a sister in law, Miss Benita Boone who made her home with the Knaurs, and several nieces and nephews, including Mrs. E. G. Johnson and Mrs. G. P. Brous of Denison.

Mrs. S. C. Knaur early settler dies, old home

One of the early settlers and a member of the Knaur family, Mrs. S. C. Knaur, 1123 W. Sears, all of whom settled here when Denison was young, passed away suddenly at the old family home, 1123 W. Sears at 7:45 p.m. Tuesday.
Her husband died in 1955.
The Knaur family had established business places in Denison as far back as 1895. S. C., entering the ice manufacturing business,  known as the Diamond Ice Co., and brother J. C. operated a large grocery store sy 314 W. Main street. Both of the Knaur families were investors in Denison real estate and in various manufacturing plants. The last of the two immediate family of Knaurs was the widow of S. C., whose death came suddenly at the old home which she entered as a young wife. The only relative surviving in Denison is a sister, Miss Benita Boone. The father of the Boone girls was a Denison practicing physician.
Mrs. Knaur came to Denison as a bride and moved into the homein which she died. She was a member of the First Presbyterian church, and took active interest in various civic and religious work.
Funeral services were announced for Thursday at the family residence, with her pastor, Rev. James I. Logan officiating. Burial was in Fairview cemetery, directed by Johnson-Moore.
