Charles M. Eldridge, 96, retired employee of other Katy car department, died at 10:45 Monday night at his home, 210 N.
Fifth avenue, after an illness of 5 weeks.

Funeral services were conducted Wednesday afternoon from Short-Murray chapel with Rev. Hargrove Grounds, pastor of Trinity Methodist Church, officiating.  Interment was at Fairview with Short-Murray directing.
Mr. Eldridge was born July 28, 1845 in Meggs county, Tennessee, his parents being Mr. and Mrs. J.E. Eldridge.  He was a member of the Methodist Church, the Masonic lodge and was a soldier in the Union army for 2 years.  He came to Denison in 1885 and was connected with the Katy as an employee until infirmity compelled his retirement.
He was an employee of the Denison YMCA for several years and a Mason 71 years.  Masonic services were conducted at the grave.  He was one of the few men living who voted for Abraham Lincoln.  He made his home with a daughter, Mrs. Sallie Graham, for the past 10 years.
Surviving are 2 sons, Charles of San Jose, California; and Frank of Brownwood.  Daughters are Mrs. Nay Neuer of Colorado Springs; Mrs. Pearl Fairies of Salt Lake City; and Mrs. Graham of this city.  Also surviving are 3 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren.
