AREA WRECKS KILL THREE, HURT SEVEN

Three persons are dead in two separate weekend area accidents that left seven persons injured and heavy property damage. Two persons were killed in a spectacular six-car collision at the entrance to the Twin City Drive-In Theater early Sunday that tied up traffic for an hour. They were Edna May Christian, 18, of Sherman and Robert Blanton, 42, of Denison.  Sherman Policeman W. W. Stephens reported traffic snarled for more than an hour by the chain reaction accident that at one time had traffic blocked in both lanes of the divided U.S. 75. Several extra units from the Sherman police department plus auxiliary and off duty policeman were called in to help work traffic. Stephens reported that Mrs. Christian was driver
of a car leaving the drive-in. As she pulled out she made it across the two east lanes and was in the controlled intersection when a northbound car driven by Blanton struck her car broadside. The Blanton car then struck a 1967 Pontiac driven by Orvil Robinson of Sherman.  The Robinson car next collided with a 1968 Dodge driven by James Jackson of Sherman which contained Jackson's pregnant wife, Sherrie, 20.  The Jackson car then was in collision with a 1967 Chevrolet driven by Jerry Lynn Parnell of Sherman which hit a 1967 Plymouth driven by Carolyn Higgins of Sherman. Mrs. Christian and Blanton were dead on arrival at a Sherman hospital.

Passengers in the Christian car, Gary I.. Christian, 20, his wife Cora, 20, and Gary Jr., 3 months, his son and Billy Blankenship, 16, all of Sherman ere hospitalized as were Jackson and his wife.  Robinson, Parnell, and his two passengers, Linda Parnell, 19, and Ramona Parnell 15, escaped injury as did Miss Higgins and a passenger, Cheryl Casey, 19, of Sherman.  Stepens said only the Parnell's were wearing seat belts.
