Bubba was born on Christmas Day 1937 to Ottis B. and Amie Ruth (Highsmith) DeShazo in Houston, Texas. He passed
away on Tuesday, May 26, 2009, in Durant at the age of 71.

He is survived by his brother and sister-in-law Preston and Susan DeShazo of Mission, Texas; his sister Brenda Pool of Denison, Texas; his brother-in-law of 30 years Jerry Pool of Tishomingo, Oklahoma; five nephews; one niece; three great-nephews; and four great-nieces.
Bubba had encephalitis in 1939 and the high fever left him with brain damage. He attained a mental age of three years and was a special friend of many. He liked his baseball caps, stuffed animals, and coin purse that he carried with him at all times.
Bubba's father passed away in 1979 and his mother in 1989. Four Seasons Nursing Center in Durant became his home and family. He was very well cared for and happy there.
Following a massive heart attack on May 20, he was moved to the Medical Center of Southeastern Oklahoma where he received excellent care and won the hearts of his nurses.
Graveside services will be at Fairview Cemetery in Denison, Texas at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, June 1, 2009.
Dalton-Holmes Funeral Home is in charge of all arrangements.
