Jeffrey "Jeff" Barnes was born on April 13, 1964, in Denison, Texas, to Jamie Edward and Carol Lynne (Phelps) Barnes.
He passed away on Sunday, Feb. 21, 2010, after a courageous battle with cancer at his home in Denison, Texas, at the age of 45.
Jeff married Diane McMenamy March 9, 1991, at the Katy Depot in Denison, Texas. He was a sales representive for Philip Morris. He enjoyed spending time with his friends and family, woodworking, rock climbing, rebuilding military vehicles
and jeeps, and hunting with his dad every year. Jeff never put himself above others and was loved by everyone who knew him.
Family requests donations be made to Home Hospice of Grayson County, Center Street, in Sherman, Texas.
He is survived by his wife of the home; father Jamie Barnes and wife Sandy of Sherman, Texas; sister Cindy Soltis and husband Merle of Durant; grandfather Dick Williams of Denison, Texas; nieces Claire Soltis of Durant, Brittney Rogers
Blair of Denison, Texas, and Erica McMenamy of Howe, Texas; and nephews Carter Soltis of Durant, Josh Rogers and Cayl Rogers, both of Denison, Texas, and Allen McMenamy of Howe, Texas.
Mr. Barnes was preceded in death by his mother and grandmother Hazel Williams.
Funeral services will be Wednesday at 10 a.m. at the First Baptist Church at 601 W. Woodard St. in Denison, Texas. Family hour will be Tuesday from 7-8 p.m. at the Bratcher Funeral Home in Denison. Horace Groff and Rev. Ross Kervin will officiate.
Internment will be at the Fairview Cemetery in Denison Texas. Pallbearers will be Carl Rogers, Joe Luna, Ronny Lyle,
Carl Weber, David McNeil and Danny Peterson. Honorary pallbearers are Joey McMenamy and Todd McMenamy.
