FRANK NEWCOMB MEETS DEATH RR CROSSING WRECK
Frank Newcomb, 609 W. Day street, died at the Katy hospital shortly after he met an accident at  a railroad crossing when he lost an arm which was completely severed from his body.  Newcomb walked some distance to a nearby automobile and was removed to the Katy hospital some 2  miles from t he crossing.  The accident happened at the Katy spur at the Baer's Ferry crossing.
Newcomb was driving his truck and trailer which was loaded with crossties at the time and was thrown from his driver's seat and his load scattered it in wild confusion.   The accident was at a place where vision is easily had on each side of the highway.   At her home on Day street, Mrs. Newcomb was st ill suffering from severe shock Wednesday afternoon.   She is left with 3 little girls, Nancy Jean, Linda Lee and Nelma Ruth.
Funeral services were  held Thursday afternoon at 4 o'clock from the Short-Murray chapel with Rev. Guy Newcomb, pastor of the First Baptist church, of which deceased was a member with Rev. L.L. McCutcheon, Sherman, assisting.  Interment was in Fairview.
Born at Valley View, May 6, 1911, he was the son of Mr. and Mrs. J.B. Newcomb and received his schooling in Denison.  After working for the Goodyear TIre and Rubber Co. in California, Mr. Newcomb returned to Denison and was employed by the theatre and went to work for the U.S. Engineers 5 years ago.
Mr. Newcomb married Miss Edith Garner at Durant, June 17, 1934.  Surviving are his widow; 3 daughters; his mother, Mrs. J.B. Newcomb, Denison; 4 brothers, Joe Newcomb, Denison; Robert Newcomb, Bell, California; Jim Newcomb, Dallas; and Doc Newcomb, with the Army at Mission; and 3  sisters, Mrs. Annie Freeman of Guatemala, Central America; Mrs. Julia Coonrod of Denison; and Mrs. Lotta Cullins of Trenway, Ohio.
