Denison — Willard J. Smith of Denison, founder of the W. J. Smith Wood Preserving Co., died Monday night at the age of
89, in a Denison hospital.

Services will be held at 3 p.m. Thursday at St. Luke's Episcopal Church, conducted by the Rev. A. Harrison Lee. Burial will be at Fairview Cemetery under the direction of Bratcher Funeral Home.
Smith was born in Zanesville, Ohio, on Sept. 16, 1887, and was the son of Dr. and Mrs. J. K. Smith. He was married in 1917 to Mayme Kincell. A Denison resident since 1939, Smith was chairman of the board of the Citizens National Bank since
1944 and a director and vice president of Denison Federal Savings and Loan Association. He was a life member of the American Wood Preservers Association and a member of the executive committee for many years. He was a member of St. Luke's Episcopal Church and the Denison Rod and Gun Club, of which he served as president several years. He was also a Mason.

Pallbearers are Kermit Wright, Clarence Fehr, Crayton Hicks, Owen Akers, Jim Stephenson, Byron Mitchell, Ross Stoddard, Joe Gay, Ralph Jones, and Phil McKinzie.
The family will be at the funeral home from 7 to 8 p.m. tonight. Memorials should be made to the Texoma Medical Center or the Denison Public Library.
