Christmas Edition 1945

Sam Boldrick, one of the early settlers in Denison and for many years in the shoe business back more than 40 years ago, died suddenly of a heart ailment Sunday night after the noon hour at his home 1231 Gandy.
Funeral services were held Tuesday afternoon from the Short-Murray chapel with Rev. O. D. Reed of the Episcopal church officiating. Services were directed by Short-Murray and interment was in Fairview.
Mr. Boldrick was in the shoe business under the name of Boldrick & Swan for many years, later buying the interest of Swan. He also interested in financing the building known as the Security building with Ed Leeper. He closed out his business interest here some years back and with the exception of clerking occasionally at the J. F. Landers store had retired.
A lover of out door life and sports he spent the greater part of his time at his farm near the city and at sports. He was a member of the Denison Roque club and of the Rod and Gun club. More than forty years ago a group of men formed a card club and for more than a quarter of a century they met each Tuesday night. Death has about taken all the club and the men ceased meeting some eight years back.
Mr. Boldrick was born Nov. 10, 1867 at Shannonville, Ontario Canada, the son of Mr. and Mrs. John Boldrick. He received his school at Belleville, Ontario Canada and Albert College. He married Miss Amy Louise Meneilley at St. Louis, Mo. in 1898.
Mr. Boldrick came from Ontario to Denison in 1893 and worked for his uncle, Thomas Boldrick in the shoe business until he purchased the business in 1897.
Survivors are his widow; two sons, S. Neill Boldrick, Fort Worth and John S. Boldrick, New Orleans, La.; one daughter, Mrs. Lindley Calnan, Picton, Ontario, Canada; one sister, Mrs. G. A. Whiteman, Pictos, Ontario Canada; and five grandchildren.
