Another of Denison's prominent specialists and citizens was added to the list of late deaths this week when Dr. A. A. Blassingame, for more than twenty-five years a specialist in the realm of eye, ear, nose and throat, died Monday in a Dallas sanitarium following a major operation. His body was brought to the city Tuesday for interment, following funeral services Wednesday at 2:30 at the First Christian Church with the pastor, Rev. Ben F. Hearn officiating. Burial was at Fairview with Short-Murray directing.
Dr. Blassingame had gone to Dallas for the operation which was performed some two weeks back and he was thought to be on the road to recovery when he suddenly took a turn for the worst last Friday. Immediately his son, Dr. Doak Blassingame, local city physician was called to his bedside to join his mother and the wife of the sick man. Death came Monday shortly before noon after heroic efforts to stay approaching death failed.

He came to Denison and opened offices and continued in that capacity until he left for his operation at Dallas, Feb. 17th of this year.
He was a member of Grayson County Medical Society, the Texas State Medical Association and Fellows of the American Medical Association. He was connected with the Katy as eye, ear, nose and throat specialist and at the time of his death held that relationship with the K. O. & G. and Southern Pacific Ry. He was a charter member of the Denison Rotary club and a former member of the Elks club. He was a member of the First Christian church and has held the office of deacon, treasurer and served on various committees. He was a member of the Denison Rod and Gun club and for many years active in Boy Scout work.
