Ned Ayres, 54, owner of Ayres Cafe here, suffered a fatal heart attack at 7 a.m. Friday at his cafe, two hours after opening for business.
Funeral services were held at 3 p.m. Saturday in Earnheart chapel, conducted by Rev. Bill Johnson, Baptist minister, and Wallace Mynatt, Church of Christ minsiter.  Burial was in Canaan Cemetery.
Mr. Ayres was born August 9, 1907, in the Canaan community, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Jim Ayres.  On July 7, 1934, he married Miss Willie Reynolds of Bells.
Survivors beside his wife are three sons, James and Mark Ayres, both of Denison and Jack Ayres of Dallas; a daughter, Mrs. Milton Simpson of Ector; two brothers, Roy Ayres of Bells and Mark Ayres of Bryan; two sisters, Mrs. Walter Adkins of Walters, Oklahoma and Mrs. J. Lee Smith of Bogata; and three grandchildren.
