DEATH OF Mr. BRENNER
Died, at the Planters House, Saturday at 4:40 p.m., Mr. Joseph Brenner, aged 34 years.
Mr. Brenner was a native of Bohemia, Austrian Empire.  He emigrated to the United States in 1857, and come to this city about 6 years ago with the house of M. Goldsoll & Co., for which house he had been a clerk in Elsworth, Kansas.  About 4 years ago he opened a liquor establishment, and was engaged in that business when stabbed by his assassin, Julius Hoettel, last Wednesday night.
His death bed was surrounded by many sorrowing friends, and immediately after it was announced by the attending physician, Dr. White, that all was over, Mr. L. Eppstein, according to the Jewish religion, Mr. Brenner being a member of the Mosaic faith, read a prayer for the rest of the soul of the departed.
Mr. Brenner was a member of Royal Arch Chapter, No. 138, secretary of Lone Star Lodge, No. 403, A.F. & A.M., and a member of Denison Lodge No. 161, I.O.O.F. and also a member of the Hebrew Benevolent Society.
He was an upright and good citizen and universally esteemed.
To be cut down in the prime of life by the hands of a drunken assassin is certainly a terrible fate, and we trust that the murderer, who is now in the Sherman jail, will receive that punishment which his distardly deed demands.
Deceased has 2 brothers in Portland, Oregon, who have been notified by telegraph of his sad fate; he also has a brother and some other relatives in Bohemia.
His funeral will take place this afternoon at 2 o'clock and will be attended by the Free Masons, Hebrew Benevolent Society and the Odd Fellows.
