1858Born in Geier, Germany. Max Oswald Beck married Minna Auguste Frank and had 3 children.
1891 - 1892 At 104 West Main Street is Beck’s Hotel and Restaurant. Max Beck is proprietor. He resides on the premises. 



1891-1892Daniel S. Beck is a tinner at Sam Hanna & Son, 111-113 West Main Street. Daniel lives at 228 East
Shepherd Street at the corner of Crockett Avenue. 
1893-1894At 104 West Main Street is Beck’s Hotel and Restaurant (“Deutsches Gast Haus”). “Furnished Rooms”
are offered. Max Beck is the proprietor, and he resides at the hotel. Albert Uhlig is a waiter at the hotel
and lives on the premises.

City Directory lists Anzeiger des Suedens, 115 North Houston Avenue, K. F. Runge, editor and
proprietor. K. Fred Runge lived at 118 West Gandy Street. Anzeiger des Suedens, 115 North Houston
Avenue, was listed also under “printers” in the business directory portion of this City Directory.
1899-1900Max Beck is proprietor of the Opera House Saloon, 100 West Woodard Street; and the Max Beck
Saloon, 126 West Main Street. Max is married and lives at 408 North Houston Avenue. Employed as
barkeeper at Max Beck Saloon is William Kohl, who rooms at 118-1/2 West Main Street.
1901-1902Charles H. Uhlig is bartender at Max Beck’s U.S. Barrel House Saloon, 126 West Main Street.
Charles lives at 800 South Lamar Avenue.
1901-1902Beck, Mrs. Mina, President, Fuerstin Bismarck Lodge, Sons of Hermann.
1907Max Beck, travel agent, resides with wife Minnie Beck at 1130 West Gandy Street. Also living
there is Elmo Beck, music teacher.
1913Miss Viola Beck & Mr. Curt Beck present piano & violin recital.
