4 April 1936 Sherman, Texas, April 3 - Funeral services for William Edward Hughes, 87, who died Thursday night at his home near Dorchester, were held Friday afternoon from the residence of his daughter, Mrs. Laura H. Gooding, Dorchester, Route 1, W.A. Wagner of Sherman officiated. Burial was in the Ethel Cemetery. He was born in Kentucky and had been a resident near Dorchester forty-six years. Surviving besides his daughter, Mrs. Gooding, are his wife, Mrs. Sarah Hughes of Dorchester; two sons, S.C. and A.D. Hughes of Sherman; one daughter, Mrs. R.C. Sneed of Sherman; one brother, John Hughes of Jacksonville, Ind. and ten grandchildren.
