Mr. and Mrs. Talley moved to Texas 53 years ago from Marshall county, Tennessee, where both were born.  They were married 2 years before coming here.  They settled first on Mustang creek, halfway between Sadler and Southmayd and the Sadler postoffice was first called "Talley" in their honor.  They came to Sherman in 1872 and stayed one year, going back to Tennessee and then returning 4 years later to Texas to make their home in the Enterprise community.
Mr. Talley developed his farm in that community but had to been retired for some time maintaining on the place a stock of cows and poultry.  He had been a lifelong Democrat and for more than 50 years a member of the Church of Christ.  Several years ago he lost his sight but never allowed the handicap to discourage him, engaging himself actively in his affars.
