The Emberson Land and Cattle Company owned twenty-five thousand acres and held grazing rights to fifty thousand more in Grayson, Denton and Collin Counties. Eldridge settled east of Pilot Point in Grayson near Tioga in 1852. He and his brother Elijah raised beef for the Confederate Army. The Emberson's donated the land for the Emberson Chapel, school, church and cemetery.
