Nancy Matilda Cantrell

Nancy Isabell Matilda Taylor was born in 1828 in Tennessee, one of ten children born to Alfred and Mary Polly Priddy Taylor.

The Taylor family later moved to Polk County Missouri, where in 1854, Nancy married Cornelius Milliken. The couple had a son, Cornelius Jr., who was born Oct. 31, 1856 in Polk County and died Dec. 28, 1856. A few months later, in February 1857, Nancy's husband, Cornelius also died. Father and son are buried in the Taylor-Milliken Cemetery, Polk County, MO.

On Feb. 8, 1858, Nancy married John Cantrell in Dade County, MO. A son, William Taylor Cantrell was born Dec. 20, 1860 in Bolivar, Polk County, MO and three years later on Jan. 14, 1863, another son, James Orlando was born. James died in 1880 and is also buried in the Tayor-Milliken Cemetery in Polk County.

Nancy's second husband, John, was killed by guerrilla forces in Melville, MO June 14, 1864. John was serving in the Missouri Militia at the time of his death.

Nancy continued to live in Missouri for many years, according to the 1870 and 1880 census. Pension records show that in 1887 Nancy was living in Pilot Point, Denton County Texas, as was her brother, William B. Taylor. She died Feb. 16, 1892.

Gravesite moved when Lake Ray Roberts was built. New resting place is in the Bloomfield Jones Cemetery, Cooke County
