LOIS UMPHRESS HANNING
Van Alstyne - Lois Umphress Hanning, 73, died Friday, Nov. 28, 2003 in St. Joseph Hospital in Houston.
Funeral services were held at 10 a.m. Tuesday in Flesher Funeral Home Chapel with Joe Ed Furr of Western Heights Church of
Christ in Sherman officiating.  Burial was in Elliott Cemetery.

Mrs. Hanning was born Aug. 8, 1930 in Gunter, the daughter of George and Minnie Walker Umphress.  She graduated from Gunter High School and Austin College.  She married Roy Hanning on Sept. 1, 1951 in Gunter.  She was a member of the Western Heights Church of Christ in Sherman. She was retired office manager of Dorchester Grain in Dorchester.
Surviving are her husband, Roy Hanning of Van Alstyne; two daughters, Virginia Hanning of Houston and Carol Lewis and husband, Bob of Cary, North Carolina; two sisters, Dorothy Bush and husband, James of  Gainesville and Lillie Monk and husband, Tex of Dorchester; one brother, George Umphress and wife, Peggy of Garland.
Pallbearers were nephews.
Arrangements were directed by Flesher Funeral Home.


Van Alstyne, Texas -- Royal Merle "Roy" Hanning, 85, of Van Alstyne passed away Wednesday, July 22, 2015 at The Homestead of Sherman.  He was born December 16, 1929 in Gunter Texas to Arch Hanning and Zilla Lowe.  He married Margaret Bell May 14, 2008 in Van Alstyne, Texas. 
He is survived by his wife Margaret, daughters; Virginia Hanning, Carol Lewis, sisters; Ouida Hazelton, and Nelda Clay.
 
Roy was preceded in death by his first wife Lois Umphress Hanning, parents ARch and Zilla Hanning, and one brother Bill Hanning.
Funeral services will be at 2:00 p.m., Monday, July 27, 2015 at the Scoggins Funeral Home Chapel.in Van Alstyne with Bro. Joe Ed Furr  officiating.  Burial will follow at the Elliott Cemetery in Van Alstyne with full military honors.  The family will receive friends from 1:00 p.m. until service time.
 
Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Scoggins Funeral Home & Crematory in Van Alstyne.
