A. E. Young, 88-year-old Pottsboro resident, died Saturday, October 30, 2004 at V.A. Hospital in Bonham, Texas.
Funeral services were held at Clement-Keel Chapel in Gainesville, conducted by Rev. Dolan Stevenson of First Assembly of God Church in Pottsboro.  Interment was in Dixie Cemetery, under the direction of Clement-Keel Funeral Home.
The son of Manering and Sophia Ruth (Bergen) Young, he was born April 5, 1916 in Anderson, Missouri.  He married Iva Mae Van Winkle on December 29, 1944 in Tulsa, Oklahoma.  He was a member of the First Assembly of God church in Pottsboro.  He served in the U.S. Army and loved to garden.
He is survived by his wife, Iva Mae Young of Pottsboro; sons and daughters-in-law, Bergen and Patty Young of Sapulpa, Oklahoma; Bernard Young of Baytown, Texas; and Arlis and Carolyn Young of Corpus Christi, Texas; daughter and son-in-law, Natalie and Don Griffin of Arlington, Texas; numerous grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; and a brother, Orville Scaggs of Ardmore, Oklahoma.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Kenneth and Elmer Gene Scaggs; and one grandchild.
Pallbearers were Bergen Young, Bernard Young, Arlis Young, Don Griffin, Bill Catorie, and Paul Corbin.
