The Herald Democrat
August 17, 2009

Our precious, beautiful mother left this world on the wings of angels August 16, 2009.
Services were held at 10 a.m. Thursday, August 20, 2009 graveside at Dixie Cemetery, north of Whitesboro on S.H. 377. Waldo Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.
Sylvia Norene Smallwood Skinner was born January 27, 1930 in Delaware Bend to William Alec Smallwood and Lillie Norene Hudson Smallwood. She grew up in Whitesboro and also attended school there.
In 1965, Sylvia went to work for Texas Instruments in Dallas and later moved to the Sherman location. She retired after 25 years of service. She was an inspiration to her many friends at Texas Instruments and so enjoyed her monthly luncheons with all the retiree girls.
Sylvia married Robert "Bob" Skinner August 8, 1975. They had 27 years of marriage and spent 20 years living in Preston Shores
at Lake Texoma. They loved fishing together, and their many trips to the horse races and bingo. Bob preceded her in death January 17, 2003.

Sylvia was the heart of our family. She is survived by her children, Mary Russey, Linda Flowers, and David Lynch all residing in Sherman; Mike Lynch of Greenville; and James Lynch of Denison; grandchildren: Wendy Fallon, Shari Dill, Melody Garcia, John Derek Lynch, Chance Lynch, Alan Lynch, Choice Lynch, Cara Russey and Cameron Russey; brothers, Bill Smallwood and wife Jeanette' Ronnie Stubblefield and wife Mary; her sister Barbara Robbins and husband Michael; and 19 great-grandchildren. Sylvia has a large extended family whom she dearly loved.
Sylvia was preceded in death by her parents William "Bill" Smallwood and Lillie Stubblefield.
Pallbearers were grandsons, John Derek Lynch, Alan Lynch, Chance Lynch, Choice Lynch, Cameron Russey and Jim Dill.
Our mother instilled in us the importance of family and her arms were always open to us all. She is our "Beloved Mother." We will miss her quick wit, beautiful smile and most of all, her loving arms.
Special thanks to Home Hospice of Grayson County and to Suzanne who always made her smile and all the friends and family who devoted themselves to her care.
