Graveside services for Benjamin "Benny" Houston Phillips, 78, will be held 9 a.m. Saturday, August 14, 2010, at the Dixie Cemetery with Rev. Rick Carney officiating. Services are under the direction of Meador Funeral Home in Whitesboro. Visitation will be from 7 until 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
Benny passed away August 11, 2010 at his home in Whitesboro.

He was born December 3, 1931, in Alderson, W.Va. to Clark Benjamin Phillips and Gladys Carroway Phillips. He married Ruby Laverne Tazewell in July 1957. He was retired from the Air Force, having served through the Korean Conflict and the Vietnam war and was retired from Montgomery Ward. He was Baptist in faith. He loved RV-ing, computers, and genealogy research.

He is survived by his son, Ben Phillips of Springfield, Mo.; daughters, Belinda Diane Giles and her husband, Charlie of South Padre, Deborah Gail Bockman of Whitesboro, Terry Lynn Yoesting and husband Sean of Allen; sister, Hazel Kincaid of Alderson, W.Va.; brother, Harold Phillips of Alderson, W.Va.; brother-in-law, Ward Parker of Alderson, W.Va.; sister-in-law, Nora Lemons
of Whitesboro; grandchildren, Natasha Moser, Chris Bockman, Ian Yoesting, Cora Yoesting, and Calvin Phillips; and great-grandchildren, Logan Bockman, Jake Bockman, and Kaylin Miller.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Laverne; parents, Clark and Gladys Phillips; sister "Sis", Joyce Parker; brother, Richard Phillips; and sister, Mary Phillips.
