WHITESBORO - Funeral services for Mary Elizabeth Farmer, 88, will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, November 19 in the Meador Funeral Home Chapel in Whitesboro. Interment will follow the services at Dixie Cemetery in Whitesboro. Visitation services
will be held from 1-2 p.m. prior to the funeral service on Tuesday at the funeral home.


She passed away on Thursday, November 14, 2013, in Whitesboro.

Mary was born to William Elmer and Lola Jewel (Overton) Phelps on May 4, 1925 in Whitesboro. She attended school at Lone Star, Red Branch, and Whitesboro. She was a homemaker and enjoyed her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. She loved to crochet, sew, and cook, especially pastries. She also collected bells.

She is survived by her son, Tommy Doyle Barnes, of Oklahoma; daughter, Bonnie Sue Efimoff, of Whitesboro; daughter, Sherry Lynn Evans, of Gainesville; and son, Lenny Todd McEwan, of Gainesville; five grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; brother, Delton Phelps and wife, Christalene, of Whitesboro; as well as numerous cousins.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Wilburn Barnes; her husband, Tom McEwan; husband, J. W. Farmer; her parents, Elmer and Jewel Phelps; brother, William Preston Phelps; and sisters, Lavern Watson and Fay Mitchell.
