Funeral services for Lewis Earl Capers of Whitesboro, Texas, were held at 3 p.m. Thursday, May 20, 2004, at Huff Funeral Chapel in Whitesboro with Rev. Joe Patterson and Rev. David Cathey officiating. Interment was in Dixie Cemetery, Grayson County, Texas. Pallbearers were David Wayne Pyle, Cliford Pyle, Troy Pyle, Clint Glaze, Craig Glaze, Rusty Capers and David Capers.
Mr. Capers died Tuesday, May 18, 2004, at Wilson N. Jones Medical Center in Sherman, Texas. He was 87.
Mr. Capers was born November 17, 1916 in Paris, Texas, to the late Thomas Alonzo Capers and Epsie Ladell Goodwin Capers. He married Vivian Elizabeth Craddock on December 7, 1935 in Calera. He was a retired cotton gin foreman and a member of
the Lions Club and Central Baptist Church in Whitesboro, Texas. He was preceded in death by his wife, Vivian Elizabeth Capers, son Billy Gene Capers, and a son in law, Jim Marbury.

He is survived by one son, David Capers of Chicota, Texas; six daughters, Margaret Drake of Meridian, Texas, Linda Pyle of Ralls, Texas, Remona Marbury of Whitesboro, Texas, Carlyon Darga of Detroit, Mich., Sandy Cathey of Carrollton, Texas, and Deborah McCullough of Ft. Towson; 25 grandchildren; 20 great grandchildren; nine great great grandchildren.
Services under the direction of Huff Funeral Home, Whitesboro, Texas.
