DESERT - Juanita Clark Matthews Carter was born August 17, 1925 at Westminster to Roy Edward Clark and Callie Lee McFerrin Clark. She died Tuesday, April 10, 2012 at her residence in Desert at the age of 86.

Juanita married Harold D. Matthews on October 11, 1944 in Collin County. She and Harold raised their four daughters together at their residence in Desert. He preceded her in death on February 2, 1980. Later Juanita married Edward C.
Carter on June 6, 1986 at Cedar Creek Lake, Toole. She was a wonderful wife, mother and homemaker. She enjoyed spending time in her yard, and for many years had a wonderful garden. Over the years she was able to enjoy many beautiful places during their extensive travels. She worked in quality control at Texas Instruments for 30 years. She was
a member of the Celeste Church of Christ.


She is survived by husband, Edward C. Carter of Desert; daughter, Judy Mae Sims and husband Keith of Blue Ridge; daughter, Martha Ann Latimer of Desert; daughter, Regina Swiney of Greenville; daughter, Sharon Kay Davis of McKinney; stepson, Billy E. Carter of Hunt; sister, Mary Louise Miller of Hurst; 10 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Harold D. Matthews; brother, George Clark; sister, Nadine Holleman; sons-in-law, Tilden W. Latimer and Gary Don Swiney.

Funeral Services were held 10 a.m., Friday, April 13, 2012 at Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Chapel, Whitewright. Officiating the service were Mr. A. C. Quinn and Mr. Charles Wrenn. Burial followed at Crossroads Cemetery in Desert. Pallbearers were Tommy Washburn, Christopher Swiney, James H. Davis, Justin A. Tillery, Mark Rhoden and Mark Dodge. Honorary Pallbearers were William Sims and Dale Sims.

Family and friends are invited to the funeral home at their convenience on Thursday to pay their respects and to sign the register book. The family will receive friends during a visitation from 6 -8 p.m. on Thursday, April 12, 2012 at Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Funeral Home, Whitewright.
