Funeral was held Sunday at 4 p.m. in Cross Roads Presbyterian Church for Mrs. Sam H. Brown, 84, who died at her home in Desert community Saturday at 1:30 a.m. after a 3-months illness.
Rev. Peck Williams of Blue Ridge, Baptist minister, and Rev. Howard Holland of Leonard officiated.  Pallbearers were Dee Thompson, A.L. Ingram, J.D. Brown, Paul Brown, A.L. Cawthon, and Tim Grubbs.  Burial was in Cross Roads Cemetery.
Mrs. Brown was born in South Carolina, a daughter of the late H.F. and Laura Bruce.  She was a member of the Baptist church.
Survivors are her husband; four sons, Raymond Brown of Desert; Elmer Brown of Sherman; Joe Brown of Bells; and Aubrey Smith of Booneville, Arkansas; one daughters, Mrs. Mabel Miles of Dallas; one brother, Leslie Bruce of Ravenna; three sisters, Mrs. S.R. Alexander of Freedom, California; Mrs. Lela Thorn of Aubrey; and Mrs. Texie Allison of Tyler; 9 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. in the Cross Roads Presbyterian Church for Sam H. Brown, 78, who died in Sherman Thursday, November 3, at the home of a son, Elmer Brown.  Burial was in the Cross Roads Cemetery, directed by Earnheart Funeral Home.
Mr. Brown was a native of Texas, having been born in Mineola on May 1, 1877.  He and his late wife, the former Miss Margaret Bruce, were married in 1903.  She preceded him in death on February 5 of this year.  He was a member of the Baptist church.
Survivors are two daughters, Mrs. Mabel Miles of Dallas and Mrs. Edward Ray of Denison; three sons, Raymond Brown of Sherman; and Joe Brown of Bells; one stepson, Aubrey Smith of Ft. Smith, Arkansas; one brother, Oscar Brown of Sherman; and three sisters, Mrs. Harrison Spencer, Mrs. Buck Chesser and Mrs. E.W. Ryon, all of Whitewright.
