Asa Walker, uncle of Mrs. R.B. Gordon of this city and a pioneer resident of the Desert community, died about 12 o'clock Saturday night.  He was 87 years old and had lived on his farm near Desert for approximately 58 years.  The family moved from Arkansas to Texas in 1866.
The deceased is survived by the following children: Will Walker, who resides on his farm between Whitewright and Desert; Dr. Robert Walker of Celina; Mrs. Ruth Golden and Jim and Asa Walker, Jr. of Desert,  Two brothers of the deceased, J.H. and J.D. Walker, reside at Valley View, Texas.
Mr. Walker joined the Presbyterian Church at the age of 20 years and at the time of his death was a member of the Desert church.  Rev. J.F. Fender of this city and Rev. Crawford of Celina conducted the funeral services at 3 o'clock Sunday afternoon, which were attended by a large gathering of people.
