Thomas C. Mathews [sic], 64, died at the home of his brother, J.H. Mathews, in the Desert community south of town Wednesday morning.  He had been ill with heart trouble for 3 years.
Funeral services were held at Cross Roads Presbyterian Church at Desert, conducted by Dr. A.R. Holton, pastor of the Walnut Street Church of Christ, Sherman.  Burial was in the Cross Roads cemetery.
Mr. Mathews was born November 23, 1865 in McMinnville, Tennessee, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Mathews.  He moved to Texas in 1900.  He was a member of the Methodist Church.
Surviving are 2 sons, Ray and Willie Mathews of Oklahoma; 2 daughters, Misses May and Anna Mathews of Lubbock; one sister, Mrs. Eula St. John of Blue Ridge; and 5 brothers, J.H. and R.B. Mathews of Desert; Jess Mathews of Woodbury, Tennessee; John Mathews of Nashville, Tennessee; and Alfred Mathews of Indianapolis, Indiana.
