Services for O.M. Quattlebaum, 86, will be held Saturday, April 24, 2010 at 2 P.M. at Meador Funeral Home Chapel in Whitesboro, Texas with Rev. Keith Byrom officiating. Interment will follow at Collinsville Cemetery. No formal visitation is planned, but you may view during calling hours. O.M. passed away April 20, 2010 in Collinsville.
O.M. Quattlebaum was born June 10, 1923 in Ethel, Texas to Oscar M and Stella (Hunt) Quattlebaum. He graduated from Collinsville High School in 1942, and served in the Army-Air Force from 1942 to 1945 when WWII ended. He was stationed in China, Burma, and India. On April 17, 1949, he married Elsie Elizabeth Fox in Collinsville, Texas; they made their home in Collinsville. He was a painting contractor for many years and also raised cattle. After retiring from his business, O.M. built houses and rental property. During this time, he was mayor of Collinsville for a total of 19 years.
He is survived by his daughter, Verna Baze and, husband, Rick of Collinsville; sister, Margaret Quattlebaum of Collinsville; grandsons, Joey Baze and, wife, Keyla of Richardson, Texas and Jerry Baze of Collinsville; granddaughter, Charlotte Walker of Sherman; and many nieces and nephews.
O.M. was preceded in death by his wife, Elsie, of 54 years in August 2003; his parents, Oscar and Stella Quattlebaum; one brother, Bonnie W.; and two sisters, Aumatine and Roberta. Funeral Pallbearers will be: Bill Morgan, Jerry Baze, Bobby King, Kenneth King, Todd Henry, and Eric Stout.
