Services for Bascom Gaskin, 85, of Collinsville, were held Friday afternoon, November 8, at Huff Funeral Chapel in Whitesboro.  He died Wednesday, November 6, 1991 in Collinsville Care Home.  Rev. A.W. Blaine conducted the services assisted by Rev. Charles Carter.  Burial was in Collinsville Cemetery under the direction of Huff Funeral Home.
Mr. Gaskin was born February 2, 1906 in Collinsville, son of Mr. and Mrs. William R. Gaskin.  He married Luella Sowder on November 26, 1927 in Whitesboro.
He was a retired farmer and a member of First Baptist Church, Collinsville.  He served as a deacon in the Macomb, Gunter, and Collinsville Baptist churches for 50 years.  He was a lover of gospel music and served as music director at the Gunter Baptist Church for 20 years.  He devoted many hours to visiting nursing homes promoting gospel music for the elderly and shut-ins.
Survivors are his wife, Luella Gaskin of Collinsville; daughter-in-law, Wanda Gaskin of Denton; sisters, Velma Baxter and Effie Gaddie of Whitesboro; Diamond Pearce of Austin; Opal Christian of Dallas; and Ruby Self of Terrell; 2 gramdchildren, Mitch Gaskin of McKinney and Sherri Tignor of Greenville; 2 great-grandchildren, Clay and Josh Tignor of Greenville.
A son, Carol Gaskin, preceded his father in death in December 1977.
Pallbears were Paul Hite, Arthie Walden, Bill Graham, Dwain Swink, Glen Potts and Larry Millson.
