Robbie Lynn Peterson passed away on November 10, 2007, despite the heroic efforts of the compassionate medical staff at Texoma Medical Center. As a recent resident of Pecan Point, an assisted Living facility in Sherman, from which she received excellent care, she had long suffered from a plethora of serious health complications culminated by a stroke three years ago.

Born the fifth daughter on October 20, 1929, to Scottie and Mary Aileen Graham of Collinsville, Texas, Robbie Lynn graduated valedictorian from Collinsville High School and went on to Austin College on a basketball scholarship, finishing up her degree after her three children were grown at the University of North Texas, later earning a masters degree in special education from Texas A&M at Commerce, with six academic endorsements, graduating Phi Delta Kappa.
Because her husband of 58 years, Leo D. Peterson was a Air Force and professional pilot, her early years as a young mother were spent in many places from post-war Japan, Kansas, Louisiana, and California to Arkansas all of which prepared her to become an understanding and thoughtful educator.
As a teacher for over 15 years at Denison High School, she specialized in at-risk teens, and made it her life's work to see that all students under her tutelage were provided with the skills they needed, often despite insurmountable odds, to go on to become productive citizens. As head of the special education department, "Mizz P" retired in the mid-nineties.
She was a member of the Shannon Church of Christ.
Robbie Lynn is survived by her husband retired USAF Major Leo D. Peterson, her daughter and husband Scarlett and Jaime Ornelas of Garland, Texas, and her grandson, Robert Craig David of The Colony, Texas. Others near to her who morn her loss are David Winebrenner of Dallas, Texas, Marilynn and Bill Andrews and their children of Columbus, Mississippi, and Eugene, Donna, and Kelly Knox, of Balch Springs, Texas, and Scottie Roy, Kathy, and Scott Sanders of Whitesboro, Texas. Among those who will miss her "Grahamminess" are Scottie Lee and Ann Graham from Broken Arrow, Oklahoma, Terry and Mary Jo Davis, Marsha and Dewayne Wickham and their families of Collinsville, Texas, Debbie and Larry Parrott of Fort Worth, Texas, and most of all her dear school girl friend Virginia Malone of Fort Worth, Texas. Those in Arkansas who mourn her passing are Lucille and Russell Holter, Maybelle and Justin Minnick, and Becky Botos.
Public viewing will begin at 6:00 PM to 8:30 PM Monday at Waldo Funeral Home in Sherman at 619 North Travis.
The service is will be held at 1:00 PM again at Waldo Funeral Home, Tuesday, November 13, with a short graveside service following at the Collinsville Cemetery. Don Tarbet, Preacher of the Shannon Church of Christ will conduct the ceremony.
Pallbearers are the following: Craig David, Jaime Ornelas, David Winebrenner, Eugene Knox, Scott Sanders, Terry Davis.
