DENTON ~ Funeral Services for Herbert Clifford McWhorter, 89, will be held at 2 p.m. on Thursday, Dec. 10, 2009 at Meador Funeral Home Chapel in Whitesboro with Rev. John Reynolds officiating. Interment will follow at the Collinsville Cemetery. Visitation will be from 6 p.m. until 7 p.m. on Wednesday at the funeral home. 
Herbert passed away on Sunday, Dec. 6, 2009 at his home in Denton. 
He was born on July 20, 1920 near Collinsville to Robert Arthur McWhorter and Eliza Cleveland (Bruce) McWhorter. Herbert graduated from Whitesboro High School in 1938 and Texas A&M University in 1942. He served in the U.S. Army Air Corps as a Captain in the China, India, Burma, Theatre during WWII. Herbert married Florence Eleanor Gilbert on Jan. 5, 1948 in Sulphur, Kentucky. He enjoyed a career for the Army Corps of Engineers as an Agricultural Economist. While living in Collinsville, he served on the city council. Herbert loved softball, playing it into his eighties. He and Eleanor loved dancing at the VFW. 
Survivors include his wife, Eleanor McWhorter of Denton; 3 sons, John A. McWhorter of Denton, James N. McWhorter of Denton, and Joseph E. McWhorter of Tioga; a daughter, Janet F. Havens of Denton; a sister, Ella Veach Moran of Franklin, Tennessee; 6 grandchildren; and 2 great-grandchildren. 
He was preceded in death by his parents; 3 brothers, Wade, J.V. and Bob McWhorter; and a sister, Faye Blassingame.

ALVARADO ~ Funeral Services for Mozelle (Sanders) McWhorter, 91, will be held at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 13, 2009 at Meador Funeral Home Chapel in Whitesboro with Rev. Jerry Davis officiating. Interment will follow in Collinsville Cemetery. Visitation will be from 6 p.m. until 7 p.m. on Monday, Oct. 12, 2009 at the funeral home. 
Mozelle passed away on Sunday, October 11, 2009 at the Huguley Nursing and Rehab Center in Burleson. 
She was born on March 28, 1918 in Collinsville to Roy Clyde and Edith Ann (Swindle) Sanders. Mozelle married Robert Arthur McWhorter, Jr. on July 29, 1935 in Whitesboro. She was a homemaker and a member of the First Baptist Church in Collinsville. 
Survivors include a son, Bob McWhorter and wife, Marilyn of Alvarado; a special nephew, whom she raised, Scotty Sanders of Whitesboro; a brother, Jack M. Sanders of Whitesboro; 3 grandchildren; Melody Werry, Robbie Farmham, and Jason McWhorter; 6 great-grandchildren; 4 great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. 
She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert; a daughter, Patricia Ann McWhorter; and several brothers and sisters. 
Pallbearers are Scotty Sanders, Sam Hiser, Kevin Farmham, Jason McWhorter, Kenneth Stafford and Andy Norris.
